The dashing 32-year-old Chris Hemsworth admitted that he had a near-death experience during a Himalayan vacation. He was also with his wife while traveling and after climbing 4000 feet up, the climate deteriorated severely and nearly killed him.

Preparation didn’t work

Acclimatizing to the Himalayan weather is crucial to start your journey to the summit. You have to spend few nights in milestones so that your body can adapt to the weather and high attitude. Many people died because of the lack of oxygen in the Himalayas. Staying few nights in the camps helps adjust the body to the low oxygen levels. However, Hemsworth ignored this mandatory practice available for staying safe at high altitudes.

Hemsworth was not aware of his body’s condition. His wife Elsa Pataky spotted that something is going wrong with his body. However, as usual, Hemsworth ignored his wife and pretended he was okay. But after some time, nature took its toll on him and he eventually fell in attitude sickness.

Hemsworth was in a good shape till 3000 feet. After that, he felt he was losing his mind as he took every step towards the summit.

Elsa Pataky – Intuition

7.3A lovely wife knows when her husband is in trouble. It is an intuition and hard to explain in words, but you can feel it in your heart. Elsa called for help after finding that her husband was struggling to breath and slowly fainting. Their guards eventually rushed to the spot and took him off the mountain. They immediately made sure that he was out of trouble and injected all sorts of medicine to keep him out of danger.

He was taken to a nearby hospital via helicopter while wearing oxygen mask. It was a close call for Hemsworth. The incident teaches us why we always need a loved one beside us.
